The Maintenance Minder: Honda's Interactive Monitoring System
Your 2020 Passport has a maintenance minder built into your car's display features. It monitors all the functions of your vehicle and tells you when you will need service soon on any item. To access this information, turn the power on and press enter until the home screen appears. Select maintenance and then oil life for the display. Your maintenance main items and sub-items will be displayed.
Code A Services: Oil Change Intervals
You should have your engine oil and filter changed at 7,500 miles and then at 30,000 miles. After this point, you should get oil change services every 15,000 miles throughout the life of your Passport.
Code B Services: Inspection
Code B indicates that you should have your entire vehicle inspected including the brakes, tie rod ends, steering gearbox, suspension, driveshaft, barking system, all fluids, your exhaust system, and your fuel system. If you use a certified Honda dealership for your oil change services, they will check all of these systems at each oil change for you.
Code C Services
Every 30,000 miles you should have your engine air cleaner replaced, your spark plugs replaced and your drive belts should be inspected and adjusted if necessary.
Maintenance Sub Items
Directly behind the maintenance items with codes A, B, and C, you will find the maintenance sub-items. These all have electronic monitors that will tell you when other services need to be done. When these lights are on, you need to take your Passport to the dealership in order to have preventative maintenance tasks. Code 1 is telling you to rotate your tires, Code 2 tells you to replace your engine air cleaner, replace the dust and pollen filter in the cab, and inspect the drive belt. Code 3 illuminates when you need your transmission fluid and filter changed. Code 4 signifies for you to replace spark plugs, timing belt, and inspect the water pump. Code 5 means you need new engine coolant; code 6 is to replace rear differential fluid and code 7 is to replace your brake fluid.
