Honda Get Your Vehicle Ready for Summer Service

Preparing Your Honda Car for a Hot Summer

Summer is here, and temperatures are at all-time highs across the globe. Although modern cars are quite reliable and versatile, you still need to prepare your vehicle for the season to prolong its life and avoid unnecessary break downs. Tom Wood Honda of Anderson would like to recommend these steps to make your vehicle summer-ready. Aside from the obvious A/C system check, here are some less commonly known checks to get done for summer.

Honda Cooling System Inspection

Perhaps the essential item in this list is your cooling system. Often confused with the A/C system, the cooling system is responsible for keeping your engine cool enough to operate and avoid an overheat. The cooling system typically includes a series of hoses, water, a fan, a radiator core, an expansion tank, and many more. With all of these critical pieces, it's essential to ensure your cooling system is ready for the hot summer ahead, especially as temperatures continue to rise in Anderson, IN. So, consider getting a quick inspection done by a local dealer and service center like Tom Wood Honda of Anderson. The review is only a fraction of the price it would take to replace an overheated engine. This is primarily a good idea if your car is more than eight years old.

Tire Inspection

Of the different system checks you should perform, this one is perhaps the easiest and can be done by you. Increased heat can affect the tires by causing tire pressure to increase, thus resulting in a blowout. This is especially true when driving on asphalt that is heated up from the hot summer sun. So, you should make sure your tires are at the manufacturing specifications. Get a tire pressure valve and check each tire. At the same time, you should look for signs of uneven wear on the tires. Using a quarter, press it into the tire tread and make sure each of the four tires has the same wear.

Honda Battery Inspection

Heat can also affect the lithium battery that allows your car to start. You wouldn't want to be stranded somewhere in a hot car, especially considering cars without A/C can easily reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit or more in the summer. This service is best left to a professional. So, hop on down to a local dealer like ours and get your battery checked.

Honda Engine Performance

In a similar fashion to your cooling system, it's good to make sure your car engine is working optimally. If it's not, your engine could overheat or perform less than optimally even if your cooling system works well.
