If you diligently take care of your Honda, you probably make sure to get regular oil changes and other important maintenance. However, how often do you think about your Honda transmission fluid? Like other important elements of your vehicle, transmission fluid will need to be changed at certain intervals.
How Do You Know You Need to Replace Your Transmission Fluid?
There are some signs you will want to pay attention to that can be an indication your transmission fluid is no longer doing its job. If you smell something sweet or tart, for example, this could be a problem with the fluid. And if you can smell it, it is probably leaking.
A grinding or squealing sound could be a sign that your transmission doesn’t have enough fluid either. Another big red flag is a delay when you shift gears, or when the car slips out of gear when driving.
And if you see an image pop up on your dashboard of an exclamation mark in a circle, this is your car telling you that something is wrong with your Honda transmission.
When Should Transmission Fluid Be Replaced?
If any of the above sounds familiar, it is time to get your transmission looked at. Even if your car seems to be working just fine, the general recommendation is to have the transmission fluid swapped out for new stuff every 30,000 miles.
Think your transmission is in need of new fluid? Or maybe you just want to have it looked it to make sure it’s in good shape?
