As Honda dealers serving Carmel, IN and surrounding areas, we couldn’t be prouder to tell you that a Honda manufacturing plant located in our home state has earned the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star certification for the fifth straight year. That’s right! Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, which is located in Greensburg, is Energy Star certified for the fifth year in a row.

Honda Manufacturing of Indiana is responsible for producing the 2017 Honda Civic and the 2017 Honda CR-V. The manufacturing facility moved forward with achieving its energy efficiency goal by changing its compressed air storage system. These changes enabled the plant to get the maximum performance from its air compressors.

Two other Ohio-based Honda plants also earned the EPA’s Energy Star certification. The automaker’s plants in Marysville and East Liberty each earned the designation for the eleventh consecutive time.

Earning the Energy Star certification means that a facility is in the top 25 percent of comparable locations for energy efficiency and the plant meets stringent energy efficiency performance standards set by the EPA. In general, production facilities that earn the Energy Star designation use 35 percent less energy and they release 35 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than facilities that aren’t Energy Star certified.

"We are proud of our manufacturing facilities' efforts to achieve the Energy Star certification again this year," said Joanna Bambeck, Honda North America Environmental Unit Leader. "Honda is constantly looking for ways to improve our operational energy efficiency. Our facilities all contribute new ideas and methods to reduce our energy needs and this culture is ultimately what will ensure our energy sustainability."

The Honda brand’s concern for energy conservation is obvious in the vehicles the automaker produces as well as its production plants. To learn more about our fuel-efficient Honda cars, visit Tom Wood Honda to take a hybrid model for a test drive today.
