One of the best things about selling new Honda cars is knowing that we represent a brand that invests in its U.S.-based production plants. Over the last four years, the automaker has invested more than $3 billion in its U.S. manufacturing facilities. Recently, the car manufacturer invested close to $150 million in two of its plants in anticipation of them producing the auto industry’s first 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Honda brand invested $100 million to create a new assembly line at Honda Precision Parts of Georgia, LLC in Tallapoosa, GA. The automaker invested an additional $49 million to acquire new equipment and increase production capacity at Honda Transmission Mfg. of America, Inc. in Russells Point, OH.
"This new 10-speed automatic transmission represents Honda's commitment to provide our customers with products of outstanding performance, and we are honored to be the global lead plant for production of the 10AT," said Masahiko Kayama, president of Honda Precision Parts of Georgia. "Manufacturing the new transmission in Georgia is a huge responsibility and a great opportunity for Honda associates to demonstrate their manufacturing capabilities and commitment."
The car maker’s new 10-speed automatic transmission has a low-friction design that’s intended to provide superior drivability in the cars the Honda brand produces. The automobile manufacturer has announced plans to introduce its 10-speed automatic transmission in the higher trims of the all-new 2018 Honda Odyssey. The Honda brand will launch its redesigned minivan later this spring. While the Honda brand will use its 10-speed automatic transmission in the Honda Odyssey initially, the automaker plans to use the transmission in more light truck and car models in the future.
Even though you may be excited to see the Honda brand’s new automatic transmission, we have to wait a little bit longer for the 2018 Honda Odyssey to arrive at our Honda dealership near Fishers, IN. There’s no reason for you to wait to buy or lease a new Honda vehicle, however, because we have a full inventory of the latest Honda cars. Visit Tom Wood Honda today.
