It's been a little more than a week since Tom Wood Honda moved to its new location just off I-69 in Anderson, Ind. The move began early on a brisk morning with all the employees hitching a ride on a tour bus and parading with a police escort from the old store to the new store. There was also a quick stop for food along the way!
To celebrate the move, Tom Wood Honda held a special event for family members to come join the crew and take in the beautiful 33,000 square feet facility.
Family Night kicked off with a guided tour by store manager KC Waterbury and showcased all the new workstations and facilities within the store. Once the tour was completed, employees and their family members made their way to the service bay which housed a bounce house for the kids and all the tables set up for dinner, which was catered by Cracker Barrel.
While everyone ate, Mike Davis, Parts Manager at Tom Wood Nissan, provided music and entertainment. Once everyone had his or her fill of delicious home-style food from Cracker Barrel, a 15-minute video edited by Sam Trezzo, New Car Manager at Tom Wood Honda, was played. This video was a compilation of motivational sports moments and movies that closely connected and meant something to the TW Honda team.
Manager KC Waterbury's favorite moment was the segment that featured "Hoosiers." Gene Hackman took his basketball team from 1952 to the Butler field house and measured the height of the rim and the distance to the free throw line, showing his team there was nothing different about the court. Only the stadium was bigger. This directly related to KC and his team at TW Honda considering they've moved from a 5,000 square feet facility to a 33,000 square feet facility!
"The only thing changing for us in not the team, but yet, the 'stadium.' It's not the size of the stadium that matters, it's the people in it," said KC.
KC stated that the video had a great impact on all his staff and family members alike. Once the video finished, team introductions were held. KC had each of his managers introduce themselves and their team members to everyone and had them explain their role within the team.
